Roundabout
2005-06-03,
So much work to do, here at work as well as at home. This weekend begins the painting. No, not of the new room, as it's still only half - maybe two thirds - completed. We're getting the electrical finished on Sunday. What's getting painted are The Boy's future room and, time and effort willing, the baby's room. The Boy is taking The Girl's room, who is in turn taking our soon-to-be-former room. Actually, it kind of is already our former room, because H and I decided to move our sleeping quarter into the breezeway. So now we're sleeping in the semi-outdoors, enclosed by a roof, half walls and screens. We spent our first night there last night, and so far it's just fine. The constant fresh air is actually rather nice. We'd talked about spending summer nights out there on the hide-a-bed couch for years anyway, so really we're just fulfilling a dream. That's certainly the positive way to look at things.
So we're moving The Girl's stuff into our room tonight and painting tomorrow. Luckily she agreed to take our room as-is for now, saving us the pain of having to take down wallpaper. Both Boy and Girl are tremendously excited about the move, since they're both upgrading in size. And by the time The Girl is ready for college (crossing fingers), she won't mind switching rooms again for what will be a 7-8 year old girl who's going to want a little more room. Here's hoping.
Wouldn't you know it, but sometimes it's good to be the unofficial technical consultant to a psychologist. Seems H's boss has got a new DLP projector on her hands for the office. H, in her wisdom, is going to be bringing that very same device home so that I can 'test it out', showing H how to use the device so that she, in turn, can show her boss. Consultation, free of charge! Aren't I nice? Heh.
