Meet Me Half Way
2006-08-12,
Just a short note today, before we disappear for the rest of the week into the bowels of Ontario.
Im currently in a hotel room of the brand-spankin new Hampton Inn in Kitchener, ON. Seriously, the now open sign in still draped over the main entrance. The hallways and elevator even smell like new construction. Its pretty nice.
Sadly, it looks like were not going to get to the arts festival. We didnt leave home until almost noon, which got us to the hotel at a little after 6pm. Then it was dinner at Kelseys (think Canadian Applebees) and then into the hotel pool, which is a saltwater pool. Apparently its the new trend in public pools, since its better for your skin, doesnt damage clothes or generally hurt your eyes. Go figure - something thats closer to natural may actually be good for you! Call the newswires! Stop the presses!
Right now I'm here at the computer, Laurana is sleeping peacefully in a hotel-provided crib, and the rest are downstairs still in the pool, which to their delight is open until midnight. I'm content to hang here and catch a few moments to awe over my sleepy little one and enjoy the last few moments with the Internets. Although I assure you that I'm looking forward to completely disconnecting from the world for a week. But I already old you that the other day, didn't I? I guess I really mean it. (Anybody want a peanut?)
Anyway, no festival. Tomorrow we'll meander our way through breakfast and be out the door by 10 or 11am, so we can get to the cabin and Begin to Chill. Or Thaw. Or Whatever. I didn't bring a book with me, so hopefully there'll be something on site to leaf through during the inbetweens.
I've got some healing to do, both inside and out. I'm hoping this will be a launch pad.
