A Rose By Any Other
2005-06-13,
Seems like we're actually making some substantial progress, for once. The baby's room is almost done - just needs a border put up, then we can start things like assembling the crib and putting things in that we've already received from the registry (thank you!). The basement is progressing; I've got 85 percent of the walls up, and I should finish tonight. H and our friend T have already begun mudding/taping/mudding, so that's already got a head start. If all goes well and everything dries and sands down well, we might be able to paint by next weekend. Yay.
Speaking of the baby, have I posted her name yet? That is, the name we're giving her? Searching... Nope, I haven't. Haven't. Here goes--
Laurana Isabel LuTong [last name].
All you old school D and D / fantasy literature geeks out there may recognise the first name, and I assure you, it's not a tribute (I always thought the character was a bit annoying, actually). I've just always really liked the name. I reckon I'll be Laura for short, which is fine by me. We wanted to leave her with a piece of her past by way of the second middle name (something about which I'm still only slightly dubious, considering what I've read on how orphan's names might be given), which won't be terribly odd, considering that her older brother and sister both also have two middle names. I consider it extra writing practise in grade school.
